Fundraising FAQ


Is there a fundraising minimum? 

YES! In order to ensure the fundraising success of this event, there is a minimum fundraising requirement of $250 for the 5K Walk, 12-Mile ride and 25-Mile ride and $400 minimum for the 50-Mile ride. Children ages 11-17 have a fundraising minimum of only $25. We think that you have it in you to surpass these minimums!  There is no fundraising minimum or registration fee for children under the age of 11 and they are only allowed on the 5K Walk. Will I be charged for my fundraising minimum when I register?

No. You are charged only your registration fee when you register.  If you have not reached your minimum by October 31st, your card on file will automatically be charged the difference. 

When is the fundraising deadline?

The fundraising minimum must be met by October 31, 2018. If you do not meet that minimum, the credit card you used to pay the registration fee will be charged the remaining balance.  You are welcome to continue fundraising until October 31st, even if you have already met your minimum. Remember, 100% of the donations are going to the scientists at Damon Runyon.

Can I still fundraise after the event? 

YES! We encourage everyone to raise additional funds through October 31, 2018.

I have never done any fundraising before and don’t even know where to start. Do you provide any help?

Does my registration fee count towards my fundraising requirement?

No. The Registration fees do not count toward your fundraising minimum. Registration fees help the William Raveis Charitable Fund offset event operating expenses.

Why is there a minimum fundraising requirement?

Expected cuts in federal research funding put us at risk of losing this generation's best young scientists to other careers. Every penny that is fundraised directly funds the emerging scientists at the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. 

What happens if I am unable to participate in the event? Am I still responsible for the fundraising minimum?

If you register for to walk or ride and later on discover that you cannot participate, you have up until September 16, 2018 to back out of the event, and will not be responsible for the fundraising minimum. That being said, the registration fee is nonrefundable and any donations you receive are also nonrefundable.  Thank you for understanding. If you are uncertain whether you can participate in the event and/or commit to the fundraising minimum, you should consider registering as a Virtual Participant. You can always change your registration type later on.

I’m riding as part of a team. Do I still need to raise the fundraising minimum as an individual?

Yes, every participant in the Raveis Ride + Walk must pay a $35 registration fee and raise a minimum of $250 or $400 for the 50-Mile ride ($25 for minors ages 17 and under). All participants have until October 31, 2018 to meet their personal fundraising minimum.

How do I turn in donations made with cash or check?

When you log into your Fundraiser Portal, there is an Offine Donation sheet you will use to submit the donation. Once this is complete, you will then mail the check or cash to us. Once it has been received, we will confirm the donation and it will then show up on your personal fundraising page. Contact Charitable Fund if you still have questions.
