This year I will be attempting to participate in the 4th Raveis Ride + Walk event. (Attempting because i will have just completed my 12th round of chemo the Thursday before the event). This year the event takes on a whole new meaning for me and my family. About a month ago i was diagnosed with HER2 breast cancer with a lymph node infiltrate. Never in a million years did I expect to hear the news that I have cancer, especially at the age of 35; but fortunately due to so much research my diagnosis is treatment to cure. 10 years ago if I was diagnosed with this kind of breast cancer it would have been very hard to treat, but, because of all the research I am granted a blessing, an opportunity to fight this and take back my life. It will be a long journey, probably the hardest mountain I will ever have to climb but I look forward to the day when i can say I’m a survivor and that I won this battle thanks to my team of doctors, my family and my friends. However I can’t help but to say the biggest thank you belongs to the scientists that dedicate their lives to helping us find a cure for this horrible disease. Without them this diagnosis may not have ever had an opportunity to be in my rear view. So, from here on out, I’ve decided to pour my energy into helping them continue to make strides and break throughs for myself and others who have the unfortunate luck of being diagnosed with this terrible disease. I pray in my lifetime or in my children’s lifetime there will be a cure for all cancers and maybe someday even a preventative method. So today, I ask for your help - help me do this - help the scientists do this!
With this particular fundraising event, 100% of all donations go to the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. Damon Runyon provides grants to the nation's emerging cancer researchers with the boldest and most daring ideas to find a cure for cancer. Please consider making a donation on my page. Damon Runyon is very unique in that they promise that 100% of the money they received will go directly to funding cancer research. As of result of the previous three years of this event, the William Raveis Charitable Fund has donated over $1.5 million dollars to this organization. Thank you for your support. Together i truly believe we can eventually find a cure! Let’s do this! FU Cancer!
